ジョナサン (English: Jonasan, literally Jonathan) is a fictional anthropomorphic cat who is being worked into an independent video game. Created by a college student, "Tachi", serving as the main character for his video game in development. The video game's title is still unannounced. The updates of the game are posted on Glitch City Lab's forums.

Concept and Creation

In early 2013 "Tachi" decided to spend his free time experimenting with free game engines. After learning a lot about how they work, and got the basic 'feel' for it, "Tachi" began creating an idea. After spriting a few rough designs, "Tachi" chose the one he liked the most. Working countless hours, "Tachi" managed to create 45 separate frames in total, and are still being edited to have more aesthetic quality. Deciding on making a 2-D platformer/rpg game, "Tachi" declared the game to be at its start.

After a few months, "Tachi" nicknamed the character ジョナサン, after the Japanese pronunciation of a more common variation of his actual name.

Characteristics

ジョナサン is a cat born from a maneki-neko (English: literally 'beckoning cat') figurine. Because of this, ジョナサン has the abilities of an actual cat, as well as mystic powers. ジョナサン is confirmed to have been born from a fictional city that takes place on Earth, however the city's name is still unconfirmed. ジョナサン's powers that are confirmed include:

  • Walking on his hind legs
  • Talking
  • Jumping incredible heights
